On April 27, 2021, Kurier reported a fire at a furniture manufacturer in Pegnitz, Germany.
Nine fire departments, along with the police and rescue services, responded when the alarm went off shortly after 7:30 a.m. When they arrived, they smelled smoke but didn’t see flames.
According to the police, there had been a deflagration in a machine that compresses sawdust. It was caused by smouldering, forcing firefighters to proceed with caution to avoid an explosion. They carried the charred wood chips outside and flooded them with water. Twenty minutes later, the fire was under control, so the engine room and the building were searched for embers with a thermal imaging camera.
No one was injured and there was no property damage.
