Incident Description:
On June 8, 2023, 20 Minutes reported a fire at a sawmill in Kerzers, Switzerland.
Firefighters and the Friborg cantonal police responded. Prior to the firefighters’ arrival, an employee present at the sawmill, along with two passers-by, initiated initial firefighting measures. The two occupants of the building were able to evacuate safely.
Approximately 70 firefighters participated in the operation and managed to contain the disaster before it could spread throughout the entire building. While the technical room was destroyed, the main building was successfully preserved, preventing further damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident.
