Incident Description:
On November 8, 2018, the Crescent-News reported a dust explosion and fire at a custom woodworking business in Hicksville, Ohio.
When personnel from the Hicksville Fire Department arrived, they could immediately see flames and smoke. The fire chief later said that when a saw shut down, it sent a spark into the dust collector, igniting the fire. He confirmed that no one was injured.
The Hicksville Fire Department was joined by crews from Sherwood, Antwerp, and Edgerton. They managed to contain the fire to the dust collector and a trailer that captured the sawdust. While the firefighters worked, the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office closed the highway outside the facility to motorists.
