Incident Description:
On September 10, 2021, Cenario MT reported a fire at a grain warehouse in Lucas do Rio Verde, Brazil.
One silo, which contained approximately 15,000 bags of soy, was infiltrated by the fire. Over 30,000 litres of water were used, but responders had difficulties controlling the flames due to the large amount of grain and enclosed environment.
The fire brigade and warehouse employees fought the flames for more than nine hours. After the fire had been contained, firefighters instructed the employees to observe the possible emergence of new hotspots and remove the grain so that silo maintenance could be carried out.
No injuries were reported.
