Incident Description:
On February 25, 2023, Bote reported a fire at an animal feed supplier in Küssnacht, Switzerland.
Shortly before noon, emergency services from the Küssnacht fire brigade responded to a call about smoke coming from a grain silo. No open fire was found, but fighting the smouldering fire inside the silo was not difficult- because of the dust in the air, the risk of a deflagration was constantly present.
As a precaution, a team from the Küssnacht rescue service and other firefighters were called out and the silo was emptied. About 25 tons of wheat were taken away. The fire brigade then extinguished the last remnants of fire. The area was cordoned off for pedestrians, and road traffic ran without restrictions.
The police are investigating what caused the smouldering fire. No injuries were reported.
