Incident Description:
On December 30, 2022, Stimme reported a fire in two silos in Gemmingen, Germany.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m. a storage shed near the town train station caught fire. Next to it were two grain storage silos, which were also burning.
The fire brigade arrived quickly and began fighting the flames. As they work, smoke rose and hung over parts of the city.
The total damage amounted to around 200,000 euros according to initial estimates by the police. It is still unclear whether the 450 tons of wheat in the silo were completely unusable.
No injuries were reported. The police noted that children had been seen playing with firecrackers in the area.
