Incident Description:
On October 3, 2022, Spot on Illinois reported a grain dryer fire at an agricultural facility in Smithboro, Illinois.
The Smithboro Fire Protection District responded to a grain dryer on fire at 8:02 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the grain dryer full of corn. After extinguishing the fire and cooling the grain dryer, crews began emptying it. The owners assisted firefighters in emptying the dryer and extinguishing the smouldering corn.
The fire department was on scene for about two hours. No injuries were reported.
