Incident Description:
On November 15, 2021, Feed and Grain reported a grain dryer fire at an agricultural business in Phelps, New York.
Several departments responded. The Oaks Corners Fire Department reported that first responding units discovered a fire in a two-storey hose dryer containing 32 tons of corn. Since access to the inside of the dryer was difficult, the corn had to be offloaded. Because there was no town water in the area, water had to be brought in tankers.
In a little over an hour, the fire was declared under control.
The fire was contained to the grain dryer, and no injuries were reported.
