Incident Description:
On February 26, 2022, Mato Grosso Aovivo reported a grain dryer fire at an agribusiness in Alta Floresta, Brazil.
The fire department was called in at around 7:30 a.m. to respond to a fire in a silo and grain dryer.
The silo was first cooled down next to the dryer so that the heat could not propagate. Following that, the direct fight against the flames was conducted, initially cooling the dryer and soon after, direct fighting through a place commonly known as “hives,” where a hole was also made in the dryer’s structure, next to the furnace.
Work lasted about five hours and about 15,000 litres of water were used. No injuries were reported.
