Incident Description:
On October 18, 2021, The Flag reported a two-alarm fire at a specialty grain processing plant in Fargo, North Dakota.
According to authorities, the first arriving engine reported heavy smoke showing from the large industrial building. Firefighters entered the building and discovered a 100-foot grain dryer on fire. Flames had spread from the dryer vents out of the roof and into a nearby wall.
Because the fire had spread to a large commercial building, a second alarm was sounded. After all employees had been evacuated, crews focused on extinguishing the fire. Second-line crews worked to control the smoke to improve visibility and keep it out of offices and grain elevators.
The fire was initially knocked down at 8:05 p.m., and crews completed the overhaul at 10:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
