Incident Description:
On October 30, 2022, the Libya Observer reported a fire at an iron and steelmaking company in Misrata, Libya.
According to the Libya Review, the industrial fire occurred in the dust extraction unit of the furnace in the first unit of the direct reduction plant. Two firefighters were killed and four workers were injured. All the victims were transferred to hospitals in Misrata and the Burns Hospital in Tripoli for necessary treatment.
Local officials have expressed concerns about the limited firefighting capacity in the area, as they currently possess only one fire engine.
