Incident Description:
On October 18, 2021, News Shopper reported a fire at an industrial estate in Crayford, London, UK.
On October 14, four engines and about 25 firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 12:42 p.m. The fire was discovered by staff who heard a rumbling sound and saw smoke coming from the extraction machine in the workshop. Fire crews found a fire in the dust collector system.
According to the Brigade’s Fire Investigators, the fire was accidental and caused by the failure of the extraction motor and the build-up of dust in the ductwork. It damaged part of the dust extraction system inside the single-story industrial unit.
No injuries were reported.
