On December 16, 2018, the Record-Courier reported a silo fire at an agricultural services provider in Deerfield, Ohio.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the grain dryer on fire. According to the Deerfield fire chief, the equipment clogged, igniting the silo and the soybeans stored inside.
A grain dryer malfunctioned at Deerfield Ag Services Saturday, igniting the silo and the soybeans inside. The Deerfield fire chief said that the beans had to be emptied into semi-tractor trailers so that firefighters could access the flames more easily.
One farm worker was treated at the local hospital for minor injuries. A post on the company’s Facebook page stated that damage was minimal.
