The Korba West Thermal Power Station where the incident occurred is an 840-megawatt coal-fired power station at Korba in Chhattisgarh.
Incident Description:
On June 7, 2020, Naidunia reported a fire in a conveyor belt supplying coal to a thermal power plant in Korba, Chhattisgarh, India.
Security personnel immediately reported the fire to management. The fire brigade extinguished the flames in around an hour, but the resulting damage has allegedly cost the electricity company millions of rupees, and coal transport from the Kusmunda coal mine to the power plant has come to a standstill.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
