Incident Description:
On April 23, 2020, the Telegraph-Forum reported a fire and explosion at a grain elevator in Nevada, Ohio.
The Wyandot East Fire and Rescue were called to the site just after 9:30 p.m. According to the Fire Chief, an explosion had travelled throughout the system. The top of one bin had been blown off and the fire had spread to two other bins.
“It pretty much destroyed the whole system,” he said. “All the grain legs, the conveyor belt, everything of it was blown apart in the explosion.”
Firefighters were on the scene approximately four hours before everything was extinguished. No injuries were reported, and the damage was limited to the property. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
