On November 23, 2019, Metro News reported a fire at a carbon plant in Follansbee, West Virginia.
When fire crews arrived on the scene at about 9:00 a.m., heavy smoke was issuing from the plant. 911 dispatchers for Brooke County called the fire an active emergency situation. Authorities confirmed that it damaged equipment, including the conveyor belt used for transporting coal.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
