Incident Description:
On November 17, 2019, Bay News 9 reported a fire at a mulch supply business in Lakeland, Florida.
Nine Polk County Fire Rescue units initially responded after the fire broke out before 11:00 p.m. on November 16. Huge plumes of smoke filled the sky on the morning of November 18 as what was left of the fire continued to smolder.
Fire marshals were said to be waiting for a break in the burn so they could get in and determine what started the fire. On November 25, Bay News 9 reported that crews have continued to monitor the fire 24 hours a day, dumping well over 12 million gallons of water on it.
No injuries have been reported.
Previous Incidents:
After the November 16 incident, fire crews said that it was not the first time they have had to respond to a fire at this facility, and when they have to come to this plant, they are often there for up to a week.
