Description of Coal Dust Fire:
On June 18, 2018 WHTI-TV10 reported a structural fire at an abandoned coal building near Brazil, Indiana.
Firefighters at the scene confirmed that construction workers had been trying to dismantle the building and a torch they used caused coal dust to catch fire. Because liquid oxygen was in the building, they decided to let the fire burn out.
According to the Posey Township Fire Department, there was no direct threat to public safety because the property is in a remote area.
No injuries were reported.
