Incident Description:
On January 16, 2019, NJ.com reported a fire at a specialty metals manufacturer in High Bridge, New Jersey.
When the High Bridge Police arrived shortly after getting the call at 4:15 p.m. on January 14, smoke could be seen from the roof of the grinding shop. Due to the size of the facility, the alarm box called for assistance from multiple departments.
The chief of the High Bridge Fire Department said that the fire started in the shop’s dust collector and that damage was limited to the machine. It was under control within 20 minutes and overhaul operations were completed within 40 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Previous Incidents:
On April 5, 2012, NJ.com reported a dust collector fire at Custom Alloy. Firefighters were called on April 4 at 2:00 p.m. and the incident was declared under control at 2:51 p.m. Due to the heavy volumes of smoke, company employees were evacuated. There were no injuries reported.
