Incident Description:
On December 8, 2018, WCAX 3 reported a warehouse fire in Vergennes, Vermont.
One witness reported that he was taking early-morning photos at a nearby nature center when he noticed smoke in the air. By the time he reached the scene of the fire, the warehouse had experienced significant damage.
The Vergennes fire chief said that a Friday night fire in an adjacent community broke the water main that fed this area and caused issues at the fire. He said that fire personnel had to switch to a tanker shuttle to be able to maintain the water supply.
Nine crews worked all morning to control the fire, which was in a building filled with grain. The fire chief said that it was a difficult fight because the tin roof metal sides made it hard to get in and actually fight the flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured.
