On June 23, 2023, Visor Notícias reported a fire at a plywood manufacturer in Otacílio Costa, Brazil.
The Santa Catarina Military Fire Department responded. Upon arriving, the firefighters observed smoke emanating from one of the powder silos used as fuel for the boiler. The company’s fire brigade had already initiated firefighting measures.
To prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent silos, the entire contents of the silo were emptied. To cool down the discharged material, foam generating liquid was applied through an upper opening of the silo. This process required approximately 30% of the factory’s technical reserve for fire (RTI) and lasted for approximately six hours.
No injuries were reported.
