Incident Description:
On June 12, 2023, Zeit Online reported a fire at an agribusiness in Ludwigslust-Parchim, Germany.
The fire occurred in a grain silo containing tires, which are commonly used in agricultural silos to weigh down the tarpaulins covering the stored forage after the harvest.
According to a police spokesperson approximately 50 emergency service personnel worked to extinguish the fire, which had spread over an area of about 200 square metres within the silo. On Sunday afternoon, the fire was successfully put out. However, it reignited several hours later, prompting the fire services to return for a second operation after midnight.
There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain unknown.
