On May 28, 2023, TdG reported a fire at a recycling centre in Carouge, Geneva, Switzerland.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 6:21 a.m. and discovered a fire in a bay containing household waste. They reported that the fire was in its initial stage and spreading. The primary objective was to prevent it from extending to the neighbouring bay, which was filled with a large quantity of wood shavings.
By utilizing two cannon nozzles and three water nozzles, the fire was brought under control by 7:55 a.m. The operation involved 17 professional firefighters with five apparatuses, as well as five volunteer firefighters and assistance from the municipality of Lancy.
No injuries were reported.
