Incident Description:

The fire brigade was alerted to a fire in a machine hall at around 12 noon. Pannecke. They could see the column of black smoke from miles away, directing them to the scene. The alarm code was immediately increased after the first forces arrived, as the entire hall was on fire and additional personnel needed to be called.
The first emergency services immediately placed a turntable ladder in position and locked down the adjacent residential building. Fortunately, the house was held and a spread was prevented.
Firefighting was carried out on all sides of the hall. The fire had already spread too far to prevent a complete burn down. However, the fire was quickly contained. The sheet metal cladding of the building was then removed with two excavators. In view of the high temperatures, it was impossible to attack the fire from the inside.
In an initial report, the police estimated the damage at over one million euros and began investigating the cause of the fire. The district road through the town was completely blocked for several hours.
No injuries were reported.
