Incident Description:
On March 4, 2023, Jornal Do Suldoeste reported a grain dryer fire at a facility in Pratápolis, Brazil.
Upon arriving at the scene at around 6:00 p.m., firefighters found that the fire was concentrated inside the dryer, which was already engulfed in flames. Company employees were able to remove the soy load from the dryer, which had a capacity of 80 tons, and place it in a silo, but once firefighting started, the dryer’s honeycomb style structure made it difficult for water to reach the outbreaks.
During eight hours of firefighting, 30,000 liters of water were used. There was damage to the dryer, grain elevator and electrical cables that feed the equipment and motors.
No injuries were reported.
