Incident Description:
On November 29, 2022, TVA Nouvelles reported a fire at a farm in Saint-Irénée, Quebec.
One of the owners noticed smoke coming from the chicken coop shortly before 8:30 pm. He then alerted the fire department. The municipality’s fire department, with the help of teams from Les Éboulements and Saint-Hilarion, quickly extinguished the flames.
Fortunately, no poultry were inside the coop when the fire broke out, but equipment, electricity, and piping were impacted by the flames. According to the chief of the Saint-Irénée fire brigade, the insurance company advanced a preliminary amount of $100,000. He added that contact between the heating system and the dust from wood shavings would explain the incident.
No injuries were reported.
