On December 1, 2022, InSuedthueringen.de reported a dust explosion at a cellulose manufacturing plant in Gehren, Germany.
The dust collector explosion caused a fire in the plant, which was subsequently evacuated. Work on extinguishing the fire lasted until late at night. Numerous fire brigades from the Ilm district were in action, including Ilmenau, Gehren, Langewiesen, Möhrenbach, Groß Breitenbach and Manebach.
