Incident Description:
On October 18, 2022, KTIV reported a fire at an agricultural cooperative in Rock Valley, Iowa
According to the Rock Valley Fire Chief, it was around 3:30 a.m. when they received a call from a worker who noticed the dryer was on fire. Upon arrival, flames and smoke were visible from the top of the dryer.
For mutual aid, Rock Valley Fire enlisted Hull Fire Department and Sioux Center Fire Department. Crews were on the scene for a little over three hours and used 75,000 gallons of water on the flames.
The dryer sustained a considerable amount of damage and is non-operational. 4,000 bushels of corn were lost in the fire, but no one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
