Incident Description:
On June 23, 2022, WALB reported a fire at a family-owned lumber business in Cecil, Georgia.
The Cecil Fire Department, Lowndes County Fire Department, East Berrien Fire Department, Brooks County Fire Department, and the Georgia Forestry all worked together to contain the fire. There were nine different agencies involved.
The cause is still being investigated, but property owners and employees say an equipment malfunction started the fire.
No injuries were reported but the Valdosta Daily Times reported that the mill was completely destroyed.
