Incident Description:
On June 8, 2022, O Município Blumenau reported an explosion at a lumber company in Presidente Getúlio, Brazil.
The explosion occurred at around 10:00 p.m. in a silo that stores sawdust. Two volunteer fire engines from the municipality went to the scene. They worked with the company’s employees to prevent further damage and potential risks. The employees used 10 chemical powder extinguishers to minimize the flames, even before the firefighters arrived.
Firefighters used 2,000 liters of water from their firefighting truck. Six firefighters, two vehicles, and a water truck from the Presidente Getúlio City Hall responded.
The accident may have been caused by a failure of the bag filter. Nobody was injured but damage totalling $50,000 BRL was reported.
