Incident Description:
On May 12, 2022, Patch reported a dust collector fire at an industrial facility in Port Reading, New Jersey.
The Woodbridge Fire Department said that crews arrived to find smoke coming from the top of the compactor and high heat readings. Crews were removing debris from inside the compactor when the fire flashed out the bottom of the unit and ran up to the top of the unit.
Fire crews put it out quickly and prevented any extension to the building. The incident was handled by firefighters from Port Reading, Avenel, Fords, Perth Amboy and Colonia along with Middlesex County Hazmat.
In total, the fire took approximately four hours to put out. No injuries were reported.
