Incident Description:
On April 26, 2022, the Coast Reporter reported a fire at a lumber processing company in Sechelt, British Columbia.
At around 10:25 a.m. on April 24, 23 firefighters and four apparatuses responded to a passerby’s call. The building was surrounded by heavy black smoke, and there was fire visible outside of the structure.
To crews went into the building and had the fire under control within 20 minutes. Another half hour was spent overhauling the fire site inside the mill.
The firefighters determined that the fire involved sawdust, rubber matting, and a conveyor belt, but the cause is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
