Incident Description:
On March 6, 2022, Patch reported an explosion at a hardwood products supplier in Aliceville, Alabama.
The explosion occurred just before 4:00 p.m. on March 5. According to the Aliceville Fire Department, the company was working on a baghouse dust collector, which removes solid particulates from the workspace and is connected to two silos at the company’s facilities.
According to reports, the equipment has been out of service since a fire in mid-December. Employees were cleaning up tools after repairing the equipment when they turned the equipment on for a test run, resulting in the explosion.
Soon after, firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered the equipment fully engulfed in flames. Assistance was requested from the Pickensville and Summerville fire departments.
One person was injured in the explosion and was treated at the scene by firefighters until medics arrived and transported him to a hospital.
