Incident Description:
On February 15, 2022, the Braintree & Witham Times reported a fire at an agricultural facility in Great Braxted, UK.
At 10:38 a.m., crews were called to the farm, where a grain dryer holding 20 tons of maize had caught fire. In order to shuttle water to the scene, the Witham and Colchester crews requested assistance from Halstead Fire Station along with two additional teams from Maldon and Great Baddow.
While firefighters from Essex Fire and Rescue Service’s urban search and rescue team cut away at the dryer to expose the fire, firefighters from an aerial ladder platform tackled the flames from above. Other firefighters worked to remove the grain from the dryer to extinguish the fire in sections.
Upon extinguishing the flames by 5:20 p.m., firefighters stayed on the scene to monitor hotspots.
No injuries were reported.
