Incident Description:
On November 26, 2021, Jmais reported a fire in a charcoal factory in Papanduva, Brazil.
By the time the firefighters arrived, the onset of the fire had already been controlled by the company’s employees, who used fire extinguishers from the company’s fire prevention system to put out the flames. The situation was under control after about 40 minutes, during which 1,500 litres of water were used.
After the fire, firefighters cooled the machines that were affected – an automatic sieve and a conveyor belt.
The supervisor of the company stated that during the afternoon they were welding the conveyor belt, which could have caused the fire to begin, as no other ignition source was present on the site.
No injuries were reported.
