On June 19, 2023, PressePortale reported a dust explosion at a wood-fired power plant in Horn-Bad Meinberg, Germany.
At 4:23 p.m., the Horn-Bad Meinberg fire brigade received an alert. As the initial emergency responders arrived, the Lippe control center upgraded the situation to “Fire 3” due to multiple callers and called for additional forces. Upon arrival, they discovered a warehouse located on the premises of a wood-fired power plant, which had experienced a dust explosion and was emitting thick smoke.
Equipped with respiratory protection, several squads swiftly initiated an investigation and firefighting efforts. The fire was promptly brought under control. Five squads, all wearing respiratory protection, were deployed, with some utilizing the turntable ladder to assess the system. Utilizing five high-performance fans, the hall was successfully cleared of smoke. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in relation to the explosion or the operation.
Approximately 50 emergency service personnel from the Horn-Bad Meinberg fire brigade, along with additional emergency services and the police, were present at the scene. Wilberger Straße was completely closed during the operation. The operation continued until after 9 p.m., concluding with the restoration of operational readiness.
No injuries were reported.
