Incident Description:
On May 21, 2019, 10/11 reported a fire at an automotive plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.
According to the Lincoln Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief, workers in the plant’s welding area called 911 after seeing smoke. Fire crews located the flames in a collecting area of a ventilation pipe used to pull dust out of the welding area. It took approximately 20 minutes to access the fire, since it was up high off the ground.
The firefighters cut away an area of the ventilation system and extinguished the flames. Damage, which was contained to the exhaust pipe only, was estimated at around $500 to $600.
