This course provides a practical and technical overview of how hybrid mixtures - combinations of combustible dust and flammable gases or vapors - impact explosion testing parameters including Kst, PMax, MEC, MIE & MIT.

Through a series of focused lessons, participants will learn how the presence of flammable gases can dramatically alter explosion severity and likelihood, making traditional dust-only testing data insufficient for accurate hazard assessment. The course covers common causes of hybrid mixtures in industrial processes, the effects on explosion behavior, current testing approaches, and key challenges in characterizing these systems. 

By the end of the course, participants will understand how hybrid mixtures influence explosion parameters, why standard test data may not apply, and challenges in accounting for these effects in Dust Hazard Analyses (DHAs) and protection strategies.
