Incident Description:
On November 16, 2021, Bioenergy Insight reported a silo fire at a biomass power plant in Teesside, UK.
Gazette Live reported that the fire was in Silo No. 3. According to the plant owner, the fire was caused by ‘smouldering fuel.’ A spokesperson confirmed that no one was injured but workers were being asked to stay away as a precaution.
Cleveland Fire Brigade is now investigating the fire. Nitrogen was injected into the silo so operators could begin removing biomass and making it safe.
