Incident Description:
On January 5, 2023, SWR reported a silo fire at a pet food manufacturer near Föhren, Germany.
A total of more than 100 firefighters from Wittlich and the municipalities of Schweich and Wittlich-Land were deployed. According to the fire brigade, which arrived at noon, there was a lot of smoke on the fourth floor and on the floors above. A ventilation system was on fire: according to the company, a machine part in the filter system caught fire.
The fire was soon extinguished. The building had to be ventilated because the smoke had spread to all seven floors, but production was not affected.
No injuries were reported.
