Incident Description:
On July 14, 2022, the Crescent-News reported an explosion and fire at a furniture manufacturer in Archbold, Ohio.
An employee reported hearing an explosion and seeing fire around 5:15 p.m. in one or both silos. She said no employees were injured and the plant was evacuated. According to one maintenance worker, the silos are located outside the plant and include panels that can be blown open in the event of a fire or explosion.
Firefighters from Archbold-German Township, Ridgeville Township, and Morenci, Michigan, responded to the incident. A worker reported that an aerial ladder truck applied water to the silos shortly after the explosion to bring things under control.
The Archbold police were also on the scene, providing traffic control west of the plant.
No injuries were reported.
