Description of Wood Dust Fire:
On July 17, 2018, the news agency Wavy reported a fire at a shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia. According to Norfolk Fire-Rescue, it was confined to a dust collection system alongside the USS Mesa Verde, which was in dry dock at the time.
Firefighters responded quickly when the call came in at 9:37 a.m. By the time they arrived, smoke could be seen from downtown Norfolk, but the blaze was soon brought under control. There were no injuries and there was no damage to the ship. The cause of the fire and value of any property damage is not yet known.
