On August 26, 2023, Yahoo Japan reported a fire at a sawmill in Kamisu City, Japan.
At approximately 7:55 a.m., an employee contacted emergency services (119) to report a machinery fire within the factory premises. According to statements from the police station, a 29-year-old male operator who was on duty within the lumber building observed flames originating near the hydraulic pump in the northeast section of the building. In response, a colleague promptly requested assistance.
As per information provided by the Prefectural Police Kamisu Police Station and the Kashima Local Affairs Union Fire Department, the fire continued to propagate as of 9:00 p.m. on the same day, with no immediate prospects of containment. There were no reported injuries resulting from the fire.
