Incident Description:
On February 22, 2021, Canadian Forest Industries reported a fire at a sawmill in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service arrived soon after the fire ignited at approximately 6:00 a.m. Monday. Thirty firefighters from Clairmont, Dunes, Bezanson, Sexsmith, and Grovedale, as well as the fire department from International Paper, also responded.
The fire was located inside the building wall, which made it difficult to access. To ensure the building was safe, crews continued to put out hotspots.
No injuries were reported and sawmill operations were unaffected.
The County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which is still unknown at this time.
