Incident Description:
On September 17, 2021, Energetic City reported a fire at a sawmill log yard in Chetwynd, British Columbia.
When the fire was detected at around 2:30 p.m., employees responded quickly. To remove the fuel source, they moved as many logs away from the fire as they could. Employees were then sent home, and residents were warned in case the fire continued or spread.
According to the Prince George Daily News, the wind carried sparks from one pile to another. Two helicopters from the BC Wildfire Service dropped water on the fire and nearby exposures, assisting Chetwynd Fire Department and Moberly Lake Fire Department firefighters.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
