Description of Sawdust Silo Explosion:
On June 6, 2018 Gazet Van Antwerpen reported an explosion at the wood processing company, Rudy De Keyser Wood Industry, in Kruibeke, Belgium. The explosion occurred around 2.30 pm in a storage silo full of sawdust. It led to a fire which quickly spread to a container filled with wood waste. When the fire department arrived there was a great deal of smoke, but firefighters were able to quickly bring the blaze under control. All employees left safely and no injuries were reported. Damage to the buildings was considerable. HLN.be reported that the same company suffered a dust explosion in March of 2017 although no information could be found about the incident.
