On June 23, 2023, Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace reported a sawdust silo explosion and fire at a sawmill in Urmatt, France.
Firefighters responded when a fire broke out in a silo, reportedly preceded by an explosion. Flames damaged the silo cover, but were swiftly controlled with the help of the silo’s automatic extinguishing system and two lances deployed by the firefighters. By 3:00 p.m., the premises were deemed secure.
No injuries were reported.
