Description of Sawdust Fire Incident
On Tuesday, May 8 a sawdust collector fire was reported by WLWT at the Mason High School in the city of Mason, Ohio. Mason School spokeswoman Tracey Carson stated that “The dust collector in our computer aided design, or CAD classes, is where the fire started. Thankfully no injuries, no one was hurt, but it did create quite a bit of smoke”. Students in the classroom reported seeing flames coming from the dust collector vacuum machine.
The fire and smoke resulted in 3,600 students being evacuated from the school around 12:00. Fox19 states that sprinklers were activated and able to put out the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries and students were allowed to start returning to the school to pick up their belongings at 5:30 after the all-clear from firefighters.
