Company Description:
According to the company website, Sidney Sugars Inc. is a sugar factory headquartered in Sidney, Montana. It was founded in 1925 and contracts approximately 30,000 acres of sugarbeets from area growers to produce sugar products, sugarbeet pulp, and sugarbeet molasses. Sidney Sugars was acquired by American Crystal Sugar Company in 2003 as part of its acquisition of several production facilities formerly owned by Imperial Sugar Company.
Incident Description:
On December 21, 2020, Power & Bulk Solids reported a fire at a sugar beet processing facility in Sidney, Montana.
According to the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, the fire ignited in a pulp dryer at around 2:00 p.m. Firefighters had it out by 3:00 p.m. According to officials, overdried pulp may have contributed to the incident.
No injuries were reported.

An establishment search turned up one OSHA inspection dated April 4, 2017, but it was not flagged for combustible dust.
