Incident Description:
On October 20, 2020, the New Straits Times reported an explosion and fire at a steel manufacturing company in Perai, Malaysia.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:28 p.m. The explosion itself can be seen on a video posted to Facebook.
When firefighters arrived, they found that the fire and explosion had occurred inside the boiler house of the three-storey building. About 30% of the property was damaged and six workers were slightly injured while helping to put out the fire. They were treated at a local hospital.
Firefighters cooled the smelted steel inside the boiler.
The cause of the explosion and fire are under investigation.
